US initial claims and import price data in the focus – TDS

Research Team at TDS, suggests that the Canada’s housing data and US import prices and initial claims will be the major economic releases for the day.

Key Quotes

CAD: Housing data will be front and center for the remainder of the week, with both the Teranet HPI for September  and New Housing Price Index for August released at 830 ET tomorrow before existing home sales are reported on Friday. Market expectations are for the New Housing Price Index to increase by 0.3% m/m.

USD: Both TD and the wider market look for import prices to rise by 0.2% m/m in September, effectively unwinding the loss from the prior month. Initial jobless claims should hold near recent lows, with TD projecting claims to edge slightly lower from 249k to 248k while the market expects a modest bounce to 253k.”
